Buffalo Soldiers

In 2017 I sponsored House Resolution 4615 honoring the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers. Originally members of the 10th Cavalry of the U.S.Army which was formed on September 21, 1866. The nickname Buffalo Soldier was given to the Black Cavalry by the Native American tribes who fought in the Indian Wars. They also fought in the Spanish American War and were with Teddy Roosevelt at San Juan Hill. The Buffalo Soldiers of Seattle are carrying on the tradition and legacy of this historical regiment. Their is also a Buffalo Soldier museum in Tacoma.
